Drum Beats...
A Message from your Longhouse Chief
Happy New Year, Big Braves and Princesses!
Well......WE DID IT!!! We got the word out there,
helped people understand its importance, got some
great participation and delivered the Most
Successful Wreath Sale this program has ever had!!
My thanks goes out to each and every one of you
Braves and Princesses whether you sold 1,3 10 or 50
wreaths for doing your part. Between us we grew
sales from 816 wreaths last year to almost 1300
this year!!! I am literally blown away by that
number and enormously proud of our program for what
we accomplished here. Sure, we had some teething
troubles on pick up day that led to some long lines
in the office for some of you, and for that I
apologize, but that's mainly because we KILLED our
numbers and are problems that I promise we will fix
for next year. Your Nation Chiefs have the specific
totals for your Nations and/or tribes, so feel free
to ask them if you didn't get a chance to see them
already. This has brought us a huge amount of funds
directly back into our program to help us develop
and grow it and make it affordable for all, and
will also allow us to make a fantastic donation
to Camp AIM. We already have a group of Braves
working on designing and building our new Nation
Banners.......look for them around a campfire
sometime this Spring!
Hopefully by the time you read this you are
registered and ready for the next campout. Dust
off those sleds, dig out your cold weather gear,
and prepare yourselves for a weekend at Kon-O-Kwee.
PRAY FOR SNOW!! If you've never been to a Winter
Camp then why not make this one your first? The
weather brings yet another dimension to a
fantastic weekend.....camp fires and Killer Hill
awaits you!
For all you budding boat builders out there don't
forget that the Princess Cup is almost upon us.
The kits are ready and will be available for
purchase at either of the Campouts, or at any time
after that directly from the Y. No need worry if
you are not skilled in the workshop, we'll have
"pre cut" kits available too and often it's the
simple designs that surprise and delight.
As always, any and all of you are encouraged to
come and join our monthly Longhouse Meetings on the
first Monday of every month. Come along and meet
some old and new faces and bring your ideas and
suggestions for helping us grow from strength to
strength.
Happy New year to you all and look forward to
seeing you around a campfire soon!!!

Sunshine (Zoe) and Little Monkey (Ava)
